This brightly colored vireo is fairly common but easily overlooked in the hardwood forests of the eastern half of the U.S. Audubon's climate model projects a 73 % loss of summer climate range by 2080, depicting a contraction within its current range and a strong drift northward. Whether the species will survive further north depends on the species’ preferred broadleaf forests shifting as well.
